GOOD PRACTISE IN THE CLUB
The Amateur Ju-Jitsu Academy aims to create an enjoyable environment for all Students wishing to take part in the Martial Arts and other sports and social activities at the Academy. The Academy emphasises that young people have a right to be safe, secure and free from threat. The Academy acknowledges that young people have a right to be treated with respect and any concerns to be listened to and acted upon. The Academy will ensure that Junior members have a specific programme and facilities designated for them with adequate supervision. The Academy ensures that Coaches/Instructors are aware of the Child Protection Policy and that there will be further developments in the future. The Academy will ensure that all Academy Instructors working with young students are aware of and apply the principles of the Child Protection Policy at all times. The Academy has a Adult member who is specifically responsible and elected for young students. ------------------------ Ju-Jitsu is not just about self-defence, its Self Control, Inner Peace and Harmony. The meaning of Ju-Jitsu roughly translated is the Gentle Art of Submission (Defend and Take Control). As used by the Samurai Warrior Ju-Jitsu (also commonly spelt "jujutsu" or "jiu-jitsu") is one of the oldest styles of Martial Arts still practised today, it dates from the 12th Century, it is also said that more than 700 forms or schools of Ju-Jitsu have existed over the years. Each of these forms has its own technique. Ju-Jitsu can emphasise grappling, using techniques such as Throws, Joint locks, Chokes and Holds, However some forms of Ju-Jitsu incorporate a fair amount of striking techniques as well, using kicks, punches, knees, elbows and weapons. A central concept to Ju-Jitsu is its ability to change in an instance from one technique to another, then another, as quickly and as many times as necessary to defeat one's attacker, Also key is its ability to use an attacker's own force against them, allowing Ju-Jitsu practitioners to defeat or control stronger enemies. Ju-Jitsu is sort of the Grandfather of the Martial Art World, in that so many other martial arts use part of Ju-Jitsu as its primary source of techniques, Aikido, Judo and to a lesser extent Hapkido, Karate to name but a few. Because Ju-Jitsu can be fragmented into so many forms, it is important that beginners should take care when choosing a school to join, Make sure the School you choose covers the elements that you are looking for.U.M.A (United Martial Alliance) Judo Competitions.
