Grupo Senzala was created in early sixties in Rio de Janeiro, with members visiting Bahia to train with Mestres Bimba and Pastinha, while at the same time developing a style of play that fuses the styles of regional and angola. The group grew and spread over different continents to become one of the most respected Capoeira schools in the world. Grupo Senzala first reached the UK in 1989. Classes are now held in London, Cambridge, Harlow, Norwich, Leicester, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
