Discovery Martial Arts is based in Tonbridge. It was set up by Dave McPherson in 2008 at Hillview School, as part of a long-term development project with the school.
Dave has been studying martial arts for nine years, including kick boxing, Wing Chun and Escrima. He has been teaching Wing Chun and Escrima for the last four-and-a-half years to adults and children from beginner to black-belt level. So far, his youngest students have been three years old and the oldest has been 70. Dave is also a qualified personal trainer, which allows him to introduce more elements of health and fitness training than would often be found in martial arts.
Previously the EWTO-UK National Head Instructor for children, one of the reasons that Dave has established his own martial arts school is that he is keen to teach a childrens curriculum that focuses on life skills, as well as pure martial arts.
