We were all beginners once; train twice a week with us, and you will improve your fitness, flexibility, self-esteem and lean a valuable and perhaps life saving skill.

Class startThe class starts by forming lines of students with senior grades to the front, the most senior starting from the students right. Either an instructor or a senior student generally takes warm up. The class is asked to line up, is called to attention and students bow to the instructor, the School Student Creed may be recited with students holding up their right hand and repeating after the instructor. Warm UpThe object of warm-up is to prevent injury by bringing the body temperature up gradually by gentle exercise. A warm up can be broken down to three main elements:Mobility: Rotating arms, shoulders, hips, knees and ankles.Aerobic: Light jogging on the spot, bringing the knees up, star jumps etc.Stretching: All major muscle groups are stretched with special emphasis on the leg ContentThere is no set pattern to lessons, although each session will generally follow a theme, which progressively reinforces and enhances a skill or technique. The lesson content will depend on many factors; the number of students attending, whether or not a competition or grading is imminent, but generally can be broken down into the following elements:Pad-work, line-work, self-defence, sparring, ground-work, stretches and strengthening, fitness and endurance training, patterns (Taekwondo), drills (Kickboxing), attack and defence techniques.Perhaps only one or two of these will be practiced in the lesson.Cool DownFinally the class finishes with a cool down, which may take the form of light stretching or slow rotation of limbs in order to disperse any lactic acids in the muscles to prevent soreness the following day.At the close of the lesson, the instructor will bow and thank the class, the class in return will bow and thank the instructor, the class is then dismissed.
