The Academy of Combative Martial Arts is a martial arts school based in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. The school offers training, promotion and certification in several arts through a modular style syllabus structure overseen by Molum Combat Arts Association.
Originally founded to promote cross-training between the arts of its three founders, the school is now run by 4th degree black belt Grant McMaster with the aim of encouraging students to find their own unique path through the martial arts. This is done by identifying a students strengths and weaknesses upon their attaining a rank within the Academy, and then helping them to choose a course most suitable.
Unlike the western standard amongst martial arts school, the Academy does not seek to fit the student to the style, but rather fit the martial art to the student. This method of teaching was once prevalent in martial traditions as it was realised that no two people think or move in the same way.
