The lee family consists of 5 arts. The arts are taught separately but are interrelated and often cross over. Tai chi Tai chi is a form of moving meditation, it uses breathing and relaxed movement to calm the mind promote chi (energy) and blood flow through the body. Tai chi practise increases balance, coordination and will help concentration. It can have many beneficial health benefits and is an excellent way to stay in good health. Feng shou (hand of the wind) Kung fu. Feng shou is a soft flowing internal martial art that uses an attackers strength and aggression against themselves. Feng shou consists of multiple sticking, kicking techniques joint locks and fast evasive foot work. Chi shu (joint locking and throwing). Chi shu or shuai jiao is an extension of the kung fu and uses locks, throws and grappling. It incorporates ground fighting and shares similarities with the more modern Japanese arts of Aikido and Judo. Kai men (Chinese yoga) Is very similar to Indian yoga but is said to predate it. Unlike Indian yoga you do not hold fixed positions for long periods of time. There are over 500 different exercises in the system each designed to help different parts of the body Tui Na (Chinese massage) Uses the acupuncture points and channels to heal all types of illness/injury and is used widely in Chinese hospitals often before western medicine. Many modern physiotherapy techniques have been developed from Tui Na. Brief history of the LEE (Li) family arts. The Lee family arts were originally created by Ho-Hsieh Lee around 1000 BC, so this Lee style is nearly three thousand years old. Grandmaster Chan Kam Lee Chan Lee, (originally from Wei Hei Wei in China) an unmarried businessman dealing in precious and semiprecious stones, opened a small office in the Holborn district of London. In 1933 he started a small class in Red Lion Square to keep himself fit and taught a few close friends. He later adopted and trained Chee Soo. Grandmaster Chee Soo formed the international wu shu association and taught classes all over the world.
